For 25 years, I have had the privilege of balancing a career as an arts educator and professional performer. I believe that my active performing career enhances my teaching, keeping me up to date with new work, current research, and the realities of life as a performer. I am still "IN THE RING" to quote Brené Brown!

I have a student-centered focus, recognizing that each student already has an artist within them. My role is to function as a guide, helping each student clarify their goals, and directing them towards options to achieve those goals. My strength as an educator is in my ability to listen closely, and co-create an effective learning journey with the singers who come to me.

Learning about the physical process of singing is an important tool when discovering who we are as artists. Understanding how and what we want to communicate directs how we use our physiological understandings to train our voices. Understanding the dynamic relationships occurring in our body when we sing provides students with greater access to their vocal and artistic potential.  My goal is to help students access their own inner knowing about their bodies and voices, and through this collaborative discovery process students become independent, confident artists.

My students have been accepted into elite classical voice and musical theatre post-secondary programs across North America, and many are working as professional performers.
